Children and Elders both share
equal space in our hearts as both of them need equal care, attention and love. But
are we accurately implement this statement in our lives? I guess it’s a no! Also,
we are not giving the respect to elders that they deserve. Have you ever feel
that they have grown old and it’s now our responsibility to take care of them
as they take care of us in early days? Answers to all these questions though
look simple but they’re not in the real-time scenario. The statements we say
out loud regarding elders’ care are easy to make but hard to follow. Nowadays,
elders feel isolated, helpless and hopeless because of our estranged behavior towards
them. When they need us, we leave them alone at old-age homes to live in
depression and other mental diseases. The
old-age people not only need shelter, food, social services and health services
for elderly in India, they also need to be treated with dignity. However, India
is unfortunately lacking behind in helping elders to get that honor, care,
love, respect and dignity.
Share the Affection that They Deserve
Today, India is also getting
ready to help elderly in achieving the status that they deserve. Several government
and non-governmental organizations have stepped forward to provide assistance
and backup to the elders. They are also arranging best of health services for
elderly in India so that elders can get effective health care at their comfort
zones. Donation for elder care is also an innovative way to help those aging
population to fulfill their demands. There are NGOs playing significant roles
in the Indian society today by organizing elderly day care centers for Dementia
and other effective programs aimed to improve the lives of elderly. The
nationally recognized professional organizations are eyeing to share the bond
of affection to become the leader in advocating the rights of the aged in India.
